CBD or Cannabidiol is a cannabinoid extract from the cannabis sativa plant, the plant which is the main source of ‘marijuana’ aka ‘weed’.

Although ‘marijuana’ is banned in most places, you can get CBD products readily in most states. So, in a way it is natural for you to wonder whether CBD has the psychotic effects similar to that of what marijuana offers?

Does CBD have any Psychoactive Effects?

To be perfectly clear, CBD has no such psychoactive effects. So, you cannot get ‘high’ when you are on
CBD. Another compound found in the extracts of the cannabis sativa plant, called
tetrahydrocannabinol or THC is the most psychoactive constituent of cannabis that causes the
psychotic and hallucinogenic effects marijuana. It is THC that gets you high.
CBD is a cannabinoid extract from the cannabis sativa plant. A cannabinoid is a compound that binds
with the cannabinoid receptors in the cells of our body and affects the release of neurotransmitters in
our central nervous system. There are generally 3 types of cannabinoids. They are Phyto cannabinoids,
endocannabinoids and synthetic cannabinoids. CBDs fall in the group of Phyto cannabinoids.
CBD or cannabidiols are best known for their antipsychotic effects. When taken along with its cousin
compound THC, CBDs are actually known to reduce the psychoactive effects of tetrahydrocannabinol
or THC. CBDs are mainly used for their medicinal properties. Cannabidiols are known to prevent the
breakdown of a chemical in our body which affects our mood, pain reception and overall mental
health. When the concentration of this component increases in our blood stream it starts to fight
against the symptoms of mental disorders and often turns out to be a huge relief to patients suffering
from such diseases.
Although it has no psychoactive properties and can be used for its medicinal properties, it does not
mean that you should use it without proper medical supervision. Overuse of CBDs can result in
symptoms such as fluctuating blood pressure, lightheadedness, dry mouth and sometimes even
drowsiness to some extent. One should be very careful regarding its usage. If you are going to use CBD
